kMSt ver. 1.2.468 – New Level Cap & Level 150 Set!

MapleStory Level Cap Increase
For the first time in 10 years of MapleStory, the level cap will be increased on January 31, to level 250! This applies to all characters, except for the Knights of Cygnus who have not yet been reorganized (although once they are, they will also be able to reach 250).
The message also states that high levelled content will be coming soon! I’m excited about both of these things, it’s going to be interesting to see what they add! Maybe even 5th job? Although I’m really sad, I just hit level 199 and in one week the level cap will be raised to 250… lame.

New Meso Cap
The meso cap has also been increased, to 9,999,999,999 mesos. This will apply to your inventory, storage, trades between characters, private and hired shops, Fredrick, and the Owl of Minerva.
Knights of Cygnus Character Creation
Knights of Cygnus Creation (M)
Knights of Cygnus Creation (F)
The creation for Knights of Cygnus has been renewed! You can now choose between male and female, each with their own unique hair (which you can choose any colour for, like Phantom). They also renewed the beginner outfit.
There were also a few changes to Striker.
  • Cygnus Bless Cygnus Bless: description now states the effect will be reduced when used as a Link Skill instead of having reduced effects when using more than one (when linked to another character, they will receive 2%/5% resistance to states and elements.
  • Annihilate Annihilate: description now states the maximum number of hits is 7
  • Electric Charge Electric Charge: additional attacks’ damage has been reduced from 45% to 40%
Seal's Guardians
The Chaos versions of the Seal Guardian bosses in Root Abyss have been released~ To be able to fight them, you must be over level 180 and have beaten the regular bosses 10 times. Chaos Pierre has 63 billion HP, Von Bon has 84 billion, Bloody Queen has 105 billion, and Vellum has 126 billion HP.
If you complete all the quests in Root Abyss, a new hunting ground for levels 180 and over will be available to you. You can access it by going to where Alicia used to be in the Colossal Root map.
Highness Warrior Helm Eagle Eye Warrior Armor Trickster Warrior Pants
Eagle Eye Dunwitch Robe Trickster Dunwitch Pants
Highness Ranger Beret Eagle Eye Ranger Hood Trickster Ranger Pants
Highness Assassin Bonnet Eagle Eye Assassin Shirt Trickster Assassin Pants
Highness Wanderer HatEagle Eye Wanderer CoatTrickster Wanderer Pants
The level 150 Root Abyss set has been added into the data! Although I think it’s incomplete because some images are missing (mage hat, various weapons) and some are duplicates (warrior and bowman top).
The naming scheme is as follows. Class can be replaced with Warrior for warriors, Ranger for bowmen, Dunwitch for mages, Assassin for thieves, and Wanderer for pirates.
  • Hats are called Highness (class) [40 main stat and sub stat, 2 attack and magic attack, 11 slots]
  • Tops are called Eagle Eye (class) [30 main stat and sub stat, 2 attack and magic attack, 5% defense ignore, 7 slots]
  • Bottoms are called Trickster (class) [30 main stat and sub stat, 2 attack and magic attack, 5% defense ignore, 7 slots]
  • Weapons are called Fafnir (class) [10% defense ignore, 8 slots]
As you can see, the level 150 set consist only of 4 items, hats, tops, bottoms, and weapons. I guess it’s so it doesn’t overlap with the Tyrant set? And yeah, equipment with base ignore defense, haha. If you wish to see the weapon stats and pictures, you can check here.
The set effects are 30 of your main stat, 1500 HP and MP for 3 equips and 20 attack/magic attack and 40% boss damage for 4 equips.

kMS ver. 1.2.184 – Monster Life & Root Abyss!

MapleStory Monster Life
This patch brings to MapleStory Monster Life, an interactive game within the game that is a lot like Farmville, as well as the new area Root Abyss, which finally reveals to us the World Tree! There were also some changes, a new party quest, and some new Cash items so read on!

kMS ver. 1.2.184 World Selection Screen
Here’s the world selection screen for this patch, with the cute boss monsters~
There was also a promotional video released for Monster Life.
Starting Monster Life
Monster Life is a new system in MapleStory that allows you to have your own farm and raise monsters! When you first enter, you’ll choose your farm name (you cannot change it afterwards). Your farm will be shared across all worlds in your Maple ID.
You can enter Maple Life by pressing the Menu > Farm button or using the hotkey.
Monster Life UI
You’ll be able to upload your own profile picture for your farm (it must be a jpeg and if it is larger than 100×100 pixels, it will automatically be resized).
Your farm also has a level, and as you increase it, you’ll gain access to new buildings, quests, a higher monster capacity, and the ability to upgrade your House. The maximum level for Monster Life is 30.
In the top left, the Clover is your farm’s beauty. Buildings and decoration will increase it, and the higher the beauty, the more buffs you will receive. If you hover over it, you’ll see the buffs you currently have.
Gems are the Cash Shop currency for Monster Life, it can be used to buy extra items you won’t be able to purchase with the regular currency. Waru is the regular currency mentioned above, you can gain it by planting crops, producing buildings, and from your moners!
Hovering over the Monster icon will show you all the monster potential you currently have (this will be explained a bit later).
The bottom left shows all your monsters as well as your inventory. The bottom right is the menu bar, with the buttons for your friend list, quests, shop, monster book, and exiting Monster Farm.
Monster Life Social Point
In Monster Life, you can be as social as you want! You have your own profile where you can post statuses and where your friends can post things on. You can have a maximum of 50 friends (since Monster Life goes across worlds, I think this means you can friend people from other worlds?).
There’s even a 1:1 chat, haha.
Using a Monster Box
To get monster for your farm, there are two methods. The first is acquiring Monster Boxes, from either quests or the shop. You can open them for a random monster, after which you can name it! Until January 30, you can hunt monster for coupons that will give you a free Monster Box in Monster Life!
Other Farm Monster Combination
You can also visit another person’s farm to ‘combine’ your monsters with theirs. I say ‘combine’ because everyone keeps their already existing animals, it’s more like breeding, haha. Based on the category of the two monsters as well as their rank, you’ll receive a new monster!
Your monsters must be at least level 3 to be able to combine.
Taking Care of a Monster
To level up your monsters, you can take care of them. As a monster’s level grows, the monsters you will receive when combining with this one will be more rare. You’ll also gain more Waru (Monster Life currency) if you choose to release them.
Playing with a Monster
If you’re visiting someone else’s farm, you can play with their monsters in order to gain Waru.
Monster Potential
All monsters on your farm will have potential, which will give stats to all the characters on your Maple ID. These stats are dependent on the monster’s category and level.
There are two types of categories, general and special. General categories (e.g. slime and mushroom, snail) each have their own stat and you will only gain the bonuses of the highest level monster of that category. Special category monsters each have their own unique potential.
Monster potential does expire, and a monster will not disappear when its potential expires.
Monster Release
Sometimes, you’ll want to release a monster because its potential expired or you need room for a better one. In that case, right click the monster and select release. You’ll receive Waru based on its level and rank.
The new area, Root Abyss, has been released! It is located in Sleepywood. When you log in, if you’re level 100 or more, you’ll receive an urgent summoning from Nineheart, who will tell you to investigate the mysterious area.
The animated video for Root Abyss is the most epic MapleStory related thing I’ve ever seen, it was great! I really loved the background music~
World Tree Guardian
This icon will appear on the right side of your screen from now on, which you can click to hear the story of Root Abyss or get warped instantly to the Colossal Root map.
World Tree Alicia
In Root Abyss, you’ll hear the voice of a girl, “Please… get me out of here…”. This is Alicia, the World Tree and the Transcendence of Life! A long time ago, she used up much of her power and decided to rest in Sleepywood. However, soon, the newest commander of the Black Mage, Damien, sealed her inside.
Now, it is your job to help save the World Tree from the darkness!
Root Abyss Seal Guardians
Damien has left four Seal Guardians, and you’ll have to defeat them all in order to release Alicia. This includes the Bloody Queen in Queen’s Castle, who will switch between four forms when you’re fighting her. Vellum in the Abyss Cave will constantly burrow in and out of the ground. Pierre, in the Afternoon Tea Table, will continuously change hats, causing you to heal him if you attack. Von Bon, in the Crevasse of Time, will lay down special clocks that will increase or decrease the timer when fighting him.
To fight them, you’ll need an Old Tree Key which you can buy from Havis in the Colossal Root map, and be in a party of 2 to 6 people all over level 100. You can enter these bosses any amount of times per day but once you defeat them, you can’t enter until the next day.
Chaos Modes of these bosses will be added on January 31.
Root Abyss Boss Rewards
Root Abyss Boss Rewards 1
Each boss can drop a hat in the shape of themselves, Vellum’s hat has 10 slots, haha. They can also drop a chair!
  • Bloody Queen: Queen’s Tiara, Scary Queen Chair
  • Pierre: Pierre Hat, Joyful Pierre Chair
  • Von Bon: Von Bon Hat, Together with Von Bon Chair
  • Vellum: Vellum’s Helm, Strange Rock Chair
Fedric de Blanc
Sometimes after defeating a boss, you’ll see Fedric de Blanc, he sells rare and powerful items. They are all in limited stock though!
Star Potions
This includes the new Star Potions, each of which as a strong effect. For 1 hour, they can increase your attack and magic attack by 20, your chance to find Epic items, your chance to find Unique items, your amount of monsters’ defense ignored by 20%, or your damage to bosses by 20%. These cannot stack with each other and only work in Root Abyss.

kMSt ver. 1.2.464 & Inkwell’s Secret Diary – Welcome to Monster Life!

Welcome to Monster Life!
Are you curious about monster combinations? Please ask me anything!

A new patch has been released in Tespia, bringing the last (?) part of the unlimited update, Monster Life! It is very similar to the mobile game MapleStory Village but also brings in game benefits to you~ I think it’s unfinished though, a lot of things say “This is not ready yet”.
In addition, small parts of Root Abyss have been added but it’s not quite accessible yet.

Farm Button
You can access Monster Life by pressing the house button beside the Channel Change button, or by going to System > Farm. Monster Life allows users to decorate their own farm while raising monsters!
Profile and Farm Name
When you first enter, you’ll be asked to name your farm. All characters on your account will share one farm. You can also upload a picture from your computer to be your profile picture!
Clovers and Waru
A farm’s beauty is expressed in clovers. As you increase your farm’s beauty, you will gain special buffs for it.
A new currency called Waru has been added for Monster Life. It can be used for a variety of things, and apparently in the future, can be used to buy things for the real MapleStory game.
Each farm has a level, up to a maximum of 30. As you level up your farm, the maximum number of monsters you can hold will increase, as well as the types of decorations you can buy.
Buildings
Deco
My House
You can buy Buildings or Deco, to change the appearance of your farm. There are also Roads, which you get for free and have an infinite amount of.
Your house cannot be moved, and can only be upgraded at certain levels.
Red Mushroom House
Each building has a unique yield of Waru, storage capacity, and beauty. Every 10 minutes, a building will produce Waru for you to collect. Deco does not give you Waru but greatly increases your farm’s beauty.
Farm Monsters
The biggest part of Monster Life is raising monsters on your farm! Every monster in MapleStory, about 700 species, have been registered in Monster Life. Boss monsters will appear as Miniature Monsters (I wonder how they look haha).
There are 22 categories of monsters, and within each category, 7 ranks. There’s also a special category that you can only get through certain boxes.
My Monsters
Each monster has 30 levels, and can gain experience by being taken care of. A higher level monster will give you more Waru. You can even visit others’ farms and have your monsters play with theirs~
Panda
When a monster joins your farm, it will receive potential (a passive skill), that will affect your in-game characters. Each of the 22 categories has its own potential, and you will receive only the boosts from the highest level of each category. Special category monsters all have unique potential.
A monster’s potential is set right when you acquire it, and will never change. I believe that the potential expires… in Tespia the date is set to 1/1/1900, haha. The thing is… I have no idea how to find out the potential of a monster nor do I see any skills on any of my characters even though I have like 8 monsters.
Anyways, here’s a list of skills that you can get.
  • Max HP increase
  • Max MP increase
  • Attack increase

Use Items
To get new monsters, you can go to the shop and buy one of the boxes there for a random monster.
Combine Monsters
You can also visit someone else’s farm, and combine monsters! The new monster you receive will be based on the categories of the monsters used as well as their rank. Neither monster gets ‘used up’ per se, so I guess this is sort of like monster mating, haha.
Story Quests
Finally, in Monster Life, you can complete quests. There are both story quests and repeatable daily quests.
Scholar's Study
Inside the Scholars’ Study, you can find four special NPCs. First off is Julian, who will give you medals for certain achievements (this has not been added yet).
There’s the fairy who will give you up to 3 repeatable quests every 6 hours. That guy who looks sort of like Wonky is the merchant, from which you can buy buildings, deco, and monster boxes. Finally the mirror, who takes you to a random person’s farm so you can combine monsters!
Fairy and Guwaru
By the way, for those of you with keen eyes, you’d notice that the mirror looks a lot like Guwaru, haha. I thought it was just a coincidence at first but I looked in the data and found this picture~ It seems Guwaru has something to do with Monster Life?

Here’s a video by Spadow playing with the Monster Life system in game, so you guys can get a better idea of what it is.
Premium Water of Life
Unrelated to Monster Life, about the Premium Water of Life. Sorry guys, my translation was completely off. This Water of Life only lets you skip the quests required to revive a pet, it does not make a pet permanent!
